Candace MacGibbon
Chief Executive Officer
Ms. MacGibbon is a CPA, CA with over 25 years’ experience in the mining sector and capital markets, as a result of her previous employment as a global mining institutional salesperson with RBC Capital Markets and in base metals research as a mining associate with BMO Capital Markets. Ms. MacGibbon’s experience in accounting matters includes her previous roles as a Manager at Deloitte LLP and as a cost analyst with Inco Limited. Ms. MacGibbon joined INV Metals in March 2008. Ms. MacGibbon is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and Sir Wilfred Laurier University.


Bill Shaver
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Shaver, P.Eng, B.Sc. in Mine Engineering and a graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines, is a seasoned senior mining executive with over 40 years of expertise in mine construction and operations. Mr. Shaver’s early experience includes Teck, Eldorado Nuclear, New Quebec Raglan, Falconbridge and the Redpath Group working on many projects in roles of increasing responsibility. He was one of the founders of Dynatec Corporation in 1980 which became one of the leading contracting and mine operating groups in North America. More recently, Mr. Shaver was the COO of FNX Mining and the President and CEO of DMC Mining Services. Mr. Shaver served as the Chair of the Board of Workplace Safety North from its inception in 2009 to 2015. He also sponsors scholarships for Masters and Doctorate students working in the safety area at Laurentian University. Mr. Shaver was recognized as the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013 for his devotion to bringing innovation to the mining industry. Mr. Shaver is a Designated Independent Corporate Director and serves on mining company boards.


Sunny Lowe
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Sunny Lowe is a CPA, CA with more than 20 years of finance experience mostly spent in the mining sector. Prior to joining INV Metals, Sunny was with Kinross Gold Corporation, first as Vice President, Internal Audit & Enterprise Risk Management and then as Vice President, Finance, overseeing the company’s External Financial Reporting and Corporate Controllership functions. Sunny also worked at Inmet Mining where she held leadership roles of increasing responsibility across functions including Enterprise Risk Management, Global Taxation and Compliance, and Business Systems and Controls. Sunny obtained her CPA, CA designation while working at Ernst & Young LLP and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.


Doug Flegg
Strategic Advisor – Capital Markets
Mr. Flegg, MBA, BSc. (Honors Geology) and CFA has over 30 years of mining and mining finance experience, with a technical background in Geology bolstered by over 20 years of mining-related capital markets experience in portfolio management and global equity sales. Mr. Flegg started his career as an Exploration Geologist in Northern Ontario and Newfoundland and has built a strong reputation as a trusted advisor and strategist with deep insights into mining corporate strategy. Before joining INV Metals as an advisor, Mr. Flegg was Managing Director of Global Mining Sales for BMO Capital Markets for 10 year.


Mark Thorpe
VP Corporate Responsibility
Dr. Thorpe earned his PhD in mine land rehabilitation at the University of Saskatchewan. Over the past 25+ years, he has worked in over 30 countries on 5 continents on projects ranging from coal and diamonds to silver and gold. Learning Spanish in the streets and on mine sites throughout Latin America, he has been involved in successfully obtaining environmental approvals for 30+ projects and has completed 10+ community resettlement projects. Dr. Thorpe works closely with his teams to build confidence and trust with stakeholders for mutual benefit. He is an innovator at heart and is on the board of directors of the Canada Mining Innovation Council.

Jorge Barreno
General Manager Ecuador
Mr. Barreno is a Mining Engineer with 25 years of experience in the development of exploration and mining programs, he has discovered the Low Sulphidation Deposit – Río Blanco – with Rio Tinto Ecuador (RTZ) and the Epithermal Deposit of High Sulphidation – Quimsacocha – with IAMGOLD Ecuador S.A., currently Loma Larga. He has wide experience in issues related to the management of community relations, the environment, and the negotiation of mining agreements. He has held positions as Chief Project Officer of Rio Blanco, Chief Technical Administrative Officer at RTZ Ecuador; Administrative Manager, President and General Manager of IAMGOLD ECUADOR S.A., and additionally he was Vice-President of the Mining Chamber of Ecuador for several years; and founder and Vice-president of the Responsible Mining Council in Ecuador. Jorge Barreno obtained his university degree at the Central University of Ecuador.


Darren King
VP Exploration
Mr. King has a MSc. in Geology from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and is a Registered Geologist with the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, & Exploration. He has 30 years of exploration experience within North, Central, and South America. Prior to joining INV Metals, Mr. King was the Mine Exploration Manager for South America at Barrick Gold and spent 12 years at Barrick Gold. He has spent more than 20 years both living and exploring in South America and he has worked on numerous world class high sulphidation systems including Pueblo Viejo, Lagunas Norte, Pierina, Pascua-Lama, and Veladero. He has been involved in the discovery of gold deposits in Panama, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic. Previously, Mr. King spent 13 years working with Inmet Mining in North, Central, and South America.


Fernando Carrión
Social Responsibility Manager – Corporate Director of Ecuador
Mr. Carrión is a Sociologist specialized in Politics and Social Sciences, with more than 20 years of experience in mining in the Social Responsibility component. Creator of cooperation models and systems for social risk analysis upon the mining sector, awarded in several opportunities as Best in Class programs. His experience has allowed him to develop as Manager of Social Responsibility for Ecuador in different companies such as Rio Tinto RTZ, International Minerals IMC, IAMGOLD, INV Minerales Ecuador S.A:, and as international consultant for IMG.  In addition, he has been a national consultant for the WFP-UN World Food Programs, member of the Regional Human Rights Advisory Institute and a consultant for several national government programs on mining, oil, social development and conflict resolution.
