Chief Executive Officer
Ms. MacGibbon is a CPA, CA with over 25 years’ experience in the mining sector and capital markets, as a result of her previous employment as a global mining institutional salesperson with RBC Capital Markets and in base metals research as a mining associate with BMO Capital Markets. Ms. MacGibbon’s experience in accounting matters includes her previous roles as a Manager at Deloitte LLP and as a cost analyst with Inco Limited. Ms. MacGibbon joined INV Metals in March 2008. Ms. MacGibbon is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and Sir Wilfred Laurier University.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Shaver, P.Eng, B.Sc. in Mine Engineering and a graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines, is a seasoned senior mining executive with over 40 years of expertise in mine construction and operations. Mr. Shaver’s early experience includes Teck, Eldorado Nuclear, New Quebec Raglan, Falconbridge and the Redpath Group working on many projects in roles of increasing responsibility. He was one of the founders of Dynatec Corporation which became one of the leading contracting and mine operating groups in North America. More recently, Mr. Shaver was the COO of FNX Mining and the President and CEO of DMC Mining Services. Mr. Shaver served as the Chair of the Board of Workplace Safety North since its inception in 2009 to 2015. He also sponsors scholarships for Masters and Doctorate students working in the safety area at Laurentian University. Mr. Shaver was recognized as the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013 for his devotion to bringing innovation to the mining industry.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Canario is a CPA, CA with over 10 years of experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining INV Metals in 2011, Mr. Canario worked as a senior associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he provided audit services to mining and manufacturing clients. Kevin holds a B. Com. (Hons) from McMaster University.
Strategic Advisor – Capital Markets
Mr. Flegg, MBA, BSc. (Honors Geology) and CFA has over 30 years of mining and mining finance experience, with a technical background in Geology bolstered by over 20 years of mining-related capital markets experience in portfolio management and global equity sales. Mr. Flegg started his career as an Exploration Geologist in Northern Ontario and Newfoundland and has built a strong reputation as a trusted advisor and strategist with deep insights into mining corporate strategy. Before joining INV Metals as an advisor, Mr. Flegg was Managing Director of Global Mining Sales for BMO Capital Markets for 10 year.
Mineral Processing Advisor
Mr. Meik has been appointed as an advisor for the process plant development of the Loma Larga gold project. Since gaining a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Minerals Engineering from the University of Birmingham (UK), he has spent 40 years covering many aspects of process development, operations and engineering for base and precious metals projects. Specific experience includes laboratory and pilot plant testing, feasibility studies, plant design and commissioning, and project and plant operations management. He has worked across geographies including mines in South and North America, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Europe, which have included various operating roles in small, medium and large (>100,000 tonnes per day) throughput facilities, together with their associated engineering companies. More recently, with Dundee Precious Metals in Bulgaria, he was involved with the upgrading and expansion of the Chelopech plant from 0.5 to 2 million tonnes per year and a 1,000 tonnes per day pyrite production circuit completed in 2014.
Mr. Vinas joined INV Metals in December 2007. He has extensive experience in auditing and financial reporting. Prior to joining INV Metals, Mr. Vinas was with Kleiman Consulting Group Ltd. Canada, KPMG Mexico S.C., SANLUIS Corporacion SA, and Grupo Horus SA, Mexico. Mr. Vinas holds a Bachelor of Accounting from Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City).
General Manager Ecuador
Mr. Barreno is a Mining Engineer with 25 years of experience in the development of exploration and mining programs, he has discovered the Low Sulphidation Deposit – Río Blanco – with Rio Tinto Ecuador (RTZ) and the Epithermal Deposit of High Sulphidation – Quimsacocha – with IAMGOLD Ecuador S.A., currently Loma Larga. He has wide experience in issues related to the management of community relations, the environment, and the negotiation of mining agreements. He has held positions as Chief Project Officer of Rio Blanco, Chief Technical Administrative Officer at RTZ Ecuador; Administrative Manager, President and General Manager of IAMGOLD ECUADOR S.A., and additionally he was Vice-President of the Mining Chamber of Ecuador for several years; and founder and Vice-president of the Responsible Mining Council in Ecuador. Jorge Barreno obtained his university degree at the Central University of Ecuador.
Social Responsibility Manager – Corporate Director of Ecuador
Mr. Carrión is a Sociologist specialized in Politics and Social Sciences, with more than 20 years of experience in mining in the Social Responsibility component. Creator of cooperation models and systems for social risk analysis upon the mining sector, awarded in several opportunities as Best in Class programs. His experience has allowed him to develop as Manager of Social Responsibility for Ecuador in different companies such as Rio Tinto RTZ, International Minerals IMC, IAMGOLD, INV Minerales Ecuador S.A:, and as international consultant for IMG. In addition, he has been a national consultant for the WFP-UN World Food Programs, member of the Regional Human Rights Advisory Institute and a consultant for several national government programs on mining, oil, social development and conflict resolution.
